Oil/canvas/wood, 51 x 64 cm, up. le. sign. S. Elmer, rest. - English animal, hunting and still life painter. E. is considered one of the most important hunting painters of his time. In 1763 he became a member of the Society of Artists, in 1773 of the Royal Academy. In 1788 he settled in London, where after his death most of his oeuvre fell victim to a fire.
