Sommer, on the stretcher on label titled 'Lake Champlain U.S.A.' as well as 'Beginnender Sturm', min. dam. - Provenance: Hermann and Emilie Mündler won the painting at the draw of the Kunstverein Frankenthal in 1880; at last private collection Hamburg. - German landscape painter. Little is known about the artist's life. In 1865 he created a view of Wandsbek. Between 1867 and 1872 he had a studio on Broadway in New York, during which time he created landscapes of the Adirondacks and Catskills, which he exhibited at the National Academy of Design.
