France, end of XVIIIth century and Restoration (1814-1830). Memories of Madame Elisabeth Princess of France (1764-1794), sister of King Louis XVI. Two pieces of silk dresses preserved in two gilded wood and stucco frames stamped with fleur-de-lis. On the back of one of the frames, presence of a handwritten note specifying "Praised be Jesus Christ - My Father, We offer you this ball: the fabric of the top and that of the bottom come from two dresses of Mrs. Elisabeth. I assure you that this is true, because they were given to me by the First Superior of Charity who was sent to Saint Quentin after the Revolution, she was going to the Court and had been imprisoned in 93. We know that you remember this princess with veneration because you gave us the prayer that she composed. We hope, Father, that this little object will please you. The frames are from the restoration period (1814-1830). (wear and patina of time). Dimensions at sight : 10 x 12 cm. Size of the frames : 22 x 24 cm. Set in its state of discovery, never in collection before, provenance : family estate.
