BERTHELIN (Max) French architect, painter and watercolorist, student of Henri Labrouste for architecture (1811-1877). Under the direction of Victor Baltard, he drew the illustrations for the album offered by the City of Paris to Queen Victoria on the occasion of her visit to France in 1855. He was also responsible for a cross-section of the Palais de l'Industrie for the 1855 Universal Exhibition. Many of his works are in the Louvre and Orsay museums. Three watercolors executed by the architect, probably around the middle of the XIXth century, representing the castle of Soisy sous Montmorency, under different aspects, castle now disappeared. Original watercolor signed in the lower left corner, mounted on cardboard representing the castle of Soisy sous Montmorency, with the caption, "The Castle of Soisy in 1820", (34 x 17 cm).
