KESSEL (Joseph) French novelist (1898-1979) Autograph letter signed to a lady. Versailles, 1961. 1 p. gd in-8. Preserved envelope. Slight traces of folding.
Very interesting letter about his book published in 1960 by Gallimard, under the title " Les Mains du Miracle ". This astonishing story refers to the biography of the Finnish therapist Felix Kersten, who had treated Heinrich Himmler during the Second World War. It is a fictionalized true story of this specialist, who, thanks to his therapeutic intervention, had obtained and allowed the liberation of thousands of prisoners from concentration camps. Kessel tells his correspondent that this work was also published under the English title "The man with miraculous hand", and confesses that it was for him, "perhaps the most astonishing true story that I have ever known...".
