Our faun shows a subject more rarely treated in sculpture than the faun, its male counterpart. However, they were the delight of Renaissance enthusiasts for whom artists such as André
Riccio (ca. 1470/1532) composed small bronze groups depicting the frolicking of a Faun and a Faunette.
