History Domenico Gilardi (1785-1845) was an Italian architect of Swiss origin and one of the great representatives of the neoclassical style in Russia. He lived in Moscow and contributed to the great works of reconstruction of the city after the fire of 1812. His most famous buildings are the Moscow University on Mokhovaya, the Moscow Catherine Institute, the Sloboda Palace in Lefortovo, the house on Povarskaya Street for Prince Sergei Sergeevich Gagarin, and the musical pavilion of the Golitsyn estate.
