Paris, chez Méquignon l'îné, 1781. 2 volumes in-8°, period binding in full calf, spines decorated with nerves, title pieces in havana morocco, gilt tomaisons, marbled edges. Copy handled, solid binding, dry leather with numerous defects in particular in the corners and on the edges with leather tears. Body of the book correct and complete. In volume 1, a light wetness in the upper margin, a flyleaf with a paper loss in the corner. Several handwritten bookplates of different surgeons on the flyleaf or title. T1: LVI pp. - 610 pp.T2: XVI pp. 422 pp. 14 folding plates in black, 5 in volume 1 and 9 in-fine in volume 2. Quite a rare first edition of this important treatise on obstetrics, which Baudelocque, great surgeon and delivery physician of the Queens of Europe, made a scientific discipline in its own right. A modest but complete copy of the first edition. Sold as is.
