The drawing is the result of a stop on one of the sibirian stations. Viewer facing frontally, next to a makeshift heat source. The study shows two crouched men, one in profile, the other facing the viewer frontally, next to a makeshift heat source. In October 1913, Nolde was on a journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway. His route subsequently took him to Korea, Japan, China and the South Seas. Created as a snapshot on the occasion of a stay at a Siberian train station, the artist captures with a quick stroke the situational impressiveness of the two freezing men.
