Set of 4 spheres
Mounted on a blackened fruitwood stand. Quarter meridians bearing the latitudes of major world cities. Equatorial tables engraved with the zodiac calendar.
The globe has 2 cartouches:
- A Paris chez DELAMARCHE geographer. Rue du foin St Jacques.
In the college of Master GERVAIS. 1801
- Globe drawn up according to the discoveries of captain COOK and increased by those of captain LAPEROUSE. C.F DELAMARCHE geographer successor of VAUGONDY. 1801
The celestial globe bears a cartouche :
- Positions of the fixed stars for the year 1780 by Sr FORTIN, geographer engineer in Paris.
The armillary sphere of Ptolemaic type is signed on the globe: " A Paris chez le Sr FORTIN, rue de la harpe. 1773 "
The planetary of Copernican type, not signed, is obviously attributable to DELAMARCHE.

Very nice set showing the cooperation between these two manufacturers of globes and spheres, at the end of the 18th century (cleaning and restorations of use)
