Posthumous book by Henri Matisse (died in 1954) : the project had been delayed by his son-in-law, Georges Duthuit, because he had not finished his text about the Inuits. However, in 1949 Matisse had executed a series of lithographs based on Inuit masks from the Duthuit collection. When the text was finally completed, Tériade published it in 130 copies.
