Gross weight: 5.2 gThe emerald is accompanied by a GEM Paris report (2021) attesting to: Colombia origin, modification by moderate oil impregnation not significantly affecting the appearance of the stone. A 1925 platinum, emerald and diamonds ring (Colombia, moderate oil) Emerald is a greenish-blue variety of the beryl (silicate) family of minerals, it is a highly coveted gem stone. Like the jewelers, since antiquity this mysterious gem has been extremely prized, especially because of its deep green and unmistakable color. Depending on the civilization, the emerald has different virtues and meanings such as strength, hope, wisdom or immortality. If this gem has always retained its power of fascination, its characteristics vary depending on its origin, either a deposit of micaschist origin or a deposit of limestone origin. Colombian emeralds belong to this second occurrence. Colombian emerald deposits were rediscovered in the 16th century by the Spanish conquistadors and are located in the so-called green crescent of the Boyaca region north of Bogota. Depending on the deposit, the color of the emerald, due to the presence of chromium, vanadium and iron, may vary due to the proportion of these elements. In Coscuez, the gems have a green color with a slight yellow tinge, while in Muzo, the green color is slightly bluish. Emeralds from Colombia are considered to be of unparalleled purity and color, which is why they are the most sought after in jewelry. If Colombian emeralds have their own inclusions such as: lake effect, triphases, paragenesis crystals, they are also free or little altered by other inclusions usually typical of emeralds such as frost or gardens.
