Height 121 cm, width 95.2 cm (Wear and small missing parts). Provenance : David Ogilvy collection, château de Touffou, Poitou. A 17th century Dutch school portrait of a child straddling a dog. Oil on canvas. Son of the painter Dirk de Vries, Fréderik was a pupil of Goltzius (Bracht-am-Niederrhein, 1558-1617, Haarlem), who painted his portrait straddling his own dog in 1597. The painting was engraved two years later for the Roman print dealer Cesare Capranica.
