England, 1849 Angel bearing a coat of arms, after the "Warwick Chasuble" (1434-1445) in gold and silver threaded embroidery for the background, the shield and the animals, while the angel and the mound are in polychrome silks. Label on back: "From a Chasuble / in the possession of / Rev W. Moore DD / Spalding : 1849 ". Height 19 cm, width 22 cm. Provenance: - William Moore, pastor in Spalding and vicar of Moulton and Prebendary of Lincoln, President of the Gentlemen's Society of Spalding, 1849. - Josiane and Daniel Fruman collection. A 1849 English embroidered piece of fabric depicting an angel bearing a coat of arms, after the 1434-1445 "Warwick chasuble". This small embroidery is identical to those on the ends of the arm of a chasuble cross in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (inv. 402 - 1907) dated between 1434 and 1445. The first date corresponds to Henry de Beauchamp's marriage to Cecily Neville and the second to his death. He became Earl of Warwick in 1439 after the death of his father and was made Duke by Henry VI of England in 1445. He died in 1446.
