From the Qashquli subtribe in Fars Province, SW Persia, this well-woven small scatter, with top-quality nomadic wool, shows a camel-straw field with blue-black shield corner cartouches and floral side meanders shows a brilliant red notch stepped pointed oval sub-field with a central ivory ellipse and the turtle palmette-derived “Qashghai gul”. Narrow ivory main border with a broken vegetal design. Wool foundation, leathery texture. Good condition. The Qashghai employ Gabbehs and kilims in their tents, but weave fine rugs for the trade.
