PITTORE LOMBARDO-EMILIANO DEL XVII-XVIII SECOLO Still Life Oil on canvas, cm 90X170 This lush and decorative composition expresses northern Italian characters and finds comparisons with works created between Lombardy and Emilia in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. These were the years when still life enjoyed extraordinary collecting success, and countless artists specialized in this genre, devising new illustrative types with extraordinary creative verve. In the present case, the scenic construction evokes the works of the Caffi, the Gianlisi and Gilardo da Lodi, particularly if one observes the leaning of the flowers and bunches of grapes toward the viewer. An exuberance, however, governed by the sought-after symmetry, with the vase of carnations in the center with the stems visible and supported by canes, highlighting how the artist pondered the scenic construction carefully. Finally, general analysis would suggest a Parma genesis, due to similarities with the works of Giuseppe Pesci (Parma, ? ; 1722), but there is no doubt that in this case the outcomes are qualitatively much higher, indicating that we are in the presence of one of his best and atypical creations.
