A chief's or notable's cane top representing a handsome male figure standing on an elaborate circular base. The treatment of the head and body shows archaic features with a finely crenellated beard, a long nose, a bunted headdress and a bountiful buttock, the sculpture in tension.
Baule or Attié, Ivory Coast
Wood, truncated under the base, very nice brown patina from use.
