Beautiful sculpture representing a kneeling figure with characteristic features of Olmec art in a contemplative attitude, his face turned towards the sky, with large round eyes inlaid with obsidian with translucent ochre reflections. Olmec culture, El Salvador, Middle Preclassic, ca. 1100 to 600 B.C. Hard stone, obsidian chips, traces of red pigment (cinnabar?), beautiful old polished patina.
