For Paul Valéry // with gratitude // & admiration // Aldous Huxley // 1933
Aldous Huxley knew Paul Valéry around 1917, but did not meet him for the first time until January 1920 in the salon of Mrs. Mühlfeld.
They had a personal and professional relationship, which became very friendly from the 1930s onwards when Huxley moved to France. Paul Valéry is one of the French authors to whom Huxley refers in the book, citing on pages 15 and 16 the poem Les Pas, from
Charmes.
A fine copy, but the dust jacket is missing.
