Baroque Vorderzappler wall clock Schwäbisch/Reichsstadt Gmünd, mid 18th century, on metal shield painted numerical ring with Roman hour numerals, Roman quarter hours and Arabic 5-minutes, in the upper shield corners painted angel figures with sword and with scepter as well as cartouches with the double-headed eagle of the Holy Roman Empire and the unicorn of the Reichsstadt Gmünd under common crown, the lower corners indistinctly inscribed, arabesque openworked brass hands, front zappler pendulum with double-headed eagle, lantern-shaped open iron case, 1 large bell, 4 weights, HxWxD: 40/32/19 cm. Not tested for function. Old rest. and retouching. According to the consignor, the clock is related to the reconstruction of the Gmünden Augustinian monastery, completed in 1758.
