Mongwu wears a painted mask with a brown background, with large round yellow and black eyes, without wings on the sides. The ruff is black and white. The body is brown, with the arms along the torso. The dancer wears a simple loincloth. The legs are separated and shod with red. Good natural stability on the ground.
Mongwa is usually seen in Soyal and Powamu ceremonies as well as in some mixed dances. His large, all-seeing eyes make him a guardian spirit. He constantly monitors the exuberant behavior of the clowns and corrects them if necessary by spraying them with water or whipping them with a yucca branch.
