Albarelo "faixes i cintes". Catalonia, 18th century. Ceramics. The polychromy is missing. Needs restoration. Measurements: 29,5 x 12 cm. Albarelo made in ceramic, decorated on the exterior face with a vegetal composition in blue enamel, placed on a white covering. This decoration reflects the technical skill and sensitivity of the craftsmen, the European and Eastern influences and the successive technical innovations that gave the work of Catalan potters a unique character. As for the technique used, despite its monochrome nature, the use of cobalt blue applied in different gradations produces a large number of shades which, in turn, contrast with the white tonality used as the base of the piece. The series known as the "faixas i cintes" (bands and belts) was developed in Catalan ceramic workshops during the 18th century, and is a blue series that usually features motifs of boats, animals and landscapes.
