JUAN NAVARRO RAMÓN (Altea, Alicante, 1903 - Sitges, Barcelona, 1989). "Still life".1942. Oil on canvas. Signed and dated in the lower right corner. Measurements: 64 x 52 cm. In his still lifes of the forties, Juan Navarro Ramón took this pictorial genre towards a spiritual essentiality of his own, as well as a worthy heir of Morandi. Navarro trained at the Fine Arts Schools of Valencia and Madrid. In 1938 he took part in the International Exhibition in Paris, and that same year he took part in the Plastic Arts Exhibition of the Ministry of Public Instruction in Barcelona, winning first prize for painting. The following year he moved to France for a short period, and in 1940 he exhibited at the Palais de la Loge-Mairie in Perpignan. He returned to Spain in 1941, and during the forties and fifties he held exhibitions in Argentina, France, Germany, Belgium and England. He is represented in the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the Reina Sofía Centre and the National Library in Madrid, the Museum of Rosario in Argentina, the Museum of Fine Arts in Álava, the Casa de la Cultura in Altea and the Juan Gil-Albert Institute of Culture in Alicante.
