BENTHAM JEREMY: (1748-1832) English philosopher, jurist and social reformer, regarded as the founder of modern utilitarianism. Autograph address panel signed ('Jeremy Bentham'), addressed in bold black ink in his hand to Archibald Procter Esq (?) at the London Coffee House, Ludgate Hill. Signed to the lower left corner and with a postal cancellation dated 25th April 1831. Neatly trimmed and lightly tipped at the upper edge to a folio page removed from an album and with an antique engraving of Bentham affixed above the envelope panel.
