VERLAINE PAUL: (1844-1896) French Poet. Considered one of the greatest in French poetry. A.L.S., `Paul Verlaine´, one page, 8vo, Paris, 7th April 1891, in French. Verlaine recommends an artist to his correspondent, stating `Je vous recommande expressément Mademoiselle Denise Ahmers que j´aurais grand Plaisir a voir participer a la representation qui sera donnée dans le courant de ce mois. Le talent de cette artiste…´ (''I expressly recommend Miss Denise Ahmers to you, whom I would have great pleasure in seeing participate in the performance which will be given during the course of this month. The talent of this artist…'') At the base of the front letter page, there is a bold ink handwritten annotation in another hand saying `Mêmes voeux de Jean Morley´ (''Same wishes from Jean Moréas''). With blank integral leaf. Jean Moréas (1856-1910) Greek Poet who wrote mostly in the French language. His poetry publications were strongly influenced by Paul Verlaine.
