Joseph Haier (1816-1891) Alms for the poor - Oil on canvas signed lower right. Dimensions : 47,5 x 38,5 cm - Almsgiving for the poor. Oil on canvas signed lower right. - Austrian painter, draughtsman and photographer of Czech origin born in Vienna, Haier studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Clemens von Zimmerman. After working in Olomouc, he settled in Brno in 1850 and devoted himself for a time to the beginnings of photography in the 1960s. He is known for his numerous Biedermeier portraits and romantic genre scenes. Austrian painter and photographer of Czech origin born in Vienna, Haier studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under the direction of Clemens von Zimmerman. After working in Olomouc, he moved to Brno in 1850 and devoted some time to the beginnings of photography in the 1960s. We know of him many portraits in the Biedermeier style and romantic genre scenes.
