Bamberg Apocalypse. Ms. Bibl. 140. Rome: Salerno Editrice, 2001. A reproduction of the ms. Bibl. 140 of the Staatsbibliothek of Bamberg bearing the book of the Apocalypse, produced in the scriptorium of the Reichenau monastery. Presumably commissioned by Emperor Otto III, it was completed at the behest of his successor Henry II. The masters of lighting from Reichenau have created 57 splendid large-format miniatures, mostly full-page, with gilt backgrounds, which illustrate the biblical text with great expressive power. The codex was donated by the emperor Henry II to the Collegiate Church of St. Stephen in Bamberg and since 2003 it has been part of UNESCO's Heritage. (295 x 204mm). Copy no. 665 of 980.
