The volume, richly illustrated with over 500 miniatures depicting plants and medical practices, collected much of the medical knowledge of Mediterranean Europe and included among the various writings the herbarium of pseudo-Apuleius and the "Medicinis ex libris feminis et masculinis" of pseudo-Dioscorides.
