Bronze.
Slight rust stains.
Measurements: 23'5 x 37 x 22 cm.
In this pen stand, cast in bronze, Marionnet devised an organic and asymmetrical form, with fluid and sinuous lines, typically Art Nouveau, decorated in its central area with the figure in relief of an eagle, spreading its wings about to take flight, perched on a branch which seems to bend under its weight.
Albert Marionnet was a French sculptor of the Art Nouveau period, specialising mainly in ornamental pieces. He made both small sculptures and decorative objects of all kinds, especially in patinated or gilded bronze.
