MORAND (Jean François Clément). Memoirs on the nature, effects, properties, & advantages of primed charcoal fire, to be used conveniently, economically, & without inconvenience, for heating, & for all domestic uses. Paris, Delalain, 1770. In-12, half red basane, smooth spine decorated (binding of the XIX°). First edition with 4 engraved plates. The author, a French physician and scientist, was director and librarian of the Academy of Sciences, and professor at the Collège de France. In this work, he advocates the use of charcoal in order to preserve the wood of the forests. Minor spotting, some wear and tear to the binding.
