Catalan school of the late 19th century. "Mountain landscape with figures". Oil on canvas. With annotation on the back "Santasusana", which could refer both to the author and the location (Santasusana is a village located at the foot of the Montseny). Size: 28 x 39 cm; 43 x 54 cm (frame). In this canvas the author offers us a landscape which is both everyday and idyllic at the same time. He gives the protagonism to the vegetation and the light effects that filter through the trees and affect the rest of the elements that make up the image. This landscape is worked with a markedly atmospheric accent, based on a delicate treatment of colour and the study of natural light. The Catalan school has a great tradition and mastery of landscape painting, firstly because of its proximity to France, which linked them through friendships with Impressionist artists, who exerted a certain influence on the Catalan school.
