Porcelain (enamel) sign, GER 1922, 50 x 75 cm, Torpedo Enamel - Frankfurter Emaillirwerke, Neu-Isenburg, illustration of the Cap Polonio on the high seas, a fast steamer that was considered the largest ship in the German merchant fleet until the Hapag's "Albert Ballin" entered service. After launching in 1914, it temporarily sailed under the British flag until the ship was repurchased by Hamburg-Süd in 1921 for $150,000 and henceforth used for South American service. The sign itself hung in Argentina and advertised weekly voyages with the shipping company to the Old Continent. Similar versions exist with the same ship depicted against a green or gray background. All these pieces are considered incredibly rare, which makes it all more wonderful to be able to offer this trinket here.. - We do only sell originals, no fakes or reproductions. - condition (1)
