Porcelain (enamel) sign, big size, convex, lithoed, SWE around 1920, 60 x 120 cm, thickly filled depiction of a marabou striding across the globe, matching the lettering "går överallt" - goes everywhere. Very nice gloss, partial scratches in the lower area. An extremely rare sign, long time one of the centerpieces of an important Swedish collection, now abandoned due to age. The origin of the Marabou emblem is sometimes tragic. Freia, the Norwegian chocolate producer that dominated Scandinavia at the time, was desperately seeking a logo for the Swedish market. The company organized a competition among commercial artists, which was won by a young man who used the prize money to afford a passage to Central Europe. However, his ship is still moored in the Oslo Fjord - and with it probably one of the greatest talents of Scandinavian commercial art.. - We do only sell originals, no fakes or reproductions. - condition (2+)
