Porcelain (enamel) sign, big size, convex, lithoed, CH 1934, 69 x 99 cm, signed: KB (Karl Bickel, 1886-1982, important Swiss and advertising artist). The sign was discovered by chance together with a Chocmel lady in the 70ies on the upper Lake Zurich in the canton of Schwyz. Both were hanging next to each other on a barn. Since the signs would have been difficult to transport by "bicycle", it was decided to return later by car. A week went by and when they came the next weekend, the signs were gone. What at first sounds like a collector's nightmare turned into a happy end - briefly shocked, they rang the doorbell of the adjoining house to learn that the signs had been (fortunately carefully) dismantled, as a painting of the barn was to take place in the next few days. For a small payment they were allowed to be loaded into the car. Still today a sensational find, especially as it seems that these Cailler children were hanging protected from wind and weather - gloss and colors are outstandingly preserved, scratches cannot be found. A real treasure - only one other piece in such fine condition is commonly known.. - We do only sell originals, no fakes or reproductions. - condition (1+)
