Roman Antoninianus: IMP GALLIENVS AVG / ROMAE AETERNA (Q)   Gallienus (253-268 AD) / Bronze / 23 mm / 4.5g AV.: IMP GALLIENVS AVG, head of Gallienus, radiate and cuirassed, right. RV.: ROMAE AETERNA, emperor standing to right, receiving Victory from Roma seated to left, holding spear; pellet in wreath above. Q in exergue.   In good condition.   Galienus: Publius Licinius Egnatius Gallien was Roman emperor with his father Valerian from 253 to 260 and alone from 260 to 268. He ruled during the crisis of the third century that nearly caused the collapse of the empire. He won a number of military victories against usurpers and Germanic tribes, but could not prevent the secession of important provinces.   Provenance: Swiss private collection R. Bonsera, Basel.
