Ancient Etrusco Corinthian Alabastron Attributed To The Michigan Group   Etruria / 6. Century B.C. / Ceramic / H = 19 cm (7 31/64 in)   Very rare corinthian terracotta alabastron painted with 5 registers of waterfowl. Attributed to the Michigan Group.   Michigan-Painter: The Michigan Painter was an Attic black-figure vase painter who worked in Athens in the last quarter of the 6th century BC. He was named by John D. Beazley after a neck amphora in the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. The painter, who belonged to the Perizoma group, painted mainly Stamnoi and small neck amphorae of the dot-band class; the neck amphorae of the group originally compiled by Beazley as the Brussels R 312 group are also by him. In addition, he painted oinochoes and lekyths. He also painted the backs of Panathenaic prize amphorae, the fronts of which were decorated by the Havana Owl painter. In very good condition.
