The Book of Marco Polo citizen of Venice private adviser and imperial commissioner of Khoubilaï-Khaân : written in French under his dictation in 1298 by Rustician of Pisa; published for the first time according to three unpublished manuscripts of the Imperial Library of Paris, presenting the primitive drafting of the Book, revised by Marc Pol himself and given by him, in 1307, to Thiébault de Cépoy, accompanied by the variants, the explanation of the words out of use, and geographical and historical comments, drawn from the Eastern writers, mainly Chinese, with a general map of Asia. Binding signed by J. Schavye, bookbinder to His Majesty the King (Brussels). A beautiful complete copy of this edition established by an orientalist and sinologist specialist of Marco Polo, with critical apparatus. Ex-libris Jean van Volxem. Some spotting and alterations in the color of the binding at the edges of the boards, except for some freckling only due to the serpente of the frontispiece (t. 1), excellent condition inside.
