VRIESE Johan Vredeman. Perspective. Dat is de hooch-ghroemde [...] Henric Hondus sculps. [Bound with: ] Perspective. Die hooch-gheroemde conste. Dat tweede deel [As well as: ] Architectura.
Lugduni Batavorum, s.d. [1604-1606].
32 x 37,5 cm, engraved title, [12] ff. of text, 49 engravings in 48 plates (33 and 34 on the same page) - engraved title, [4] ff. of text, 22 ff. of plates - engraved title, [29] ff. of plates with explanatory texts interspersed + [78] irregularly paginated ms. ff. with figures and drawn plates. Bound in contemporary full vellum, laces (2 lost). Losses of material and detachments on the spine.
Vriese's work is followed by a handwritten and drawn part entitled "Observationes artis pictore", in a handwriting that seems contemporary to the work. The last ff. are the size of a vertical half page. This handwritten part is in very good condition, the printed parts have been damaged at the top (wetness?) and restored, the lost parts rewritten and redrawn by hand (presumably close to the time of publication). Plates 45 of part one and DD, LL, NN, OO of part three are completely redrawn. As is.
