Hand of a female sculpture. Roman. 1st-2nd century AD.
Marble.
Provenance: private collection, New York, USA.
Good state of preservation. No restorations.
Measurements: 12 cm. long.
Marble hand, from the Roman period. It is a female hand, with long fingers. It could belong to the sculpture of a goddess or a mythological figure. It is the right hand and holds what could be the stem of a flower, if we think of the representations of Flora, although it could also be a piece of a bow (Diana). In any case, the anatomical precision with which the fingers, contours and beginning of the wrist have been turned is remarkable.
