ANGELO MARIA ROSSI (attr. a)
(Milan, news from 1662 to 1675)
Natura morta
Oil on canvas, 48.5X63.5 cm
Critics have only recently identified the anagraphic reality of the so-called 'Pittore di Carlo Torre,' known under the name of Pseudo Fardella (cf. L. Salerno, La natura morta italiana, Roma 1984, pp. 280-281). Alberto Crispo's discovery of a monogram (A. M. R) on a canvas made it possible to identify the artist as Angelo Maria Rossi, documented in Lombardy around the mid-17th century (cf. G. Cirillo, Angelo Maria Rossi alias Pittore di Carlo Torre, in Parma per l'arte, 2003, pp. 77-80).
