At the end of the 1960s, after several exhibitions at the Galerie Charpentier in Paris, Nonda embarked on a new, more dramatic form of expression. In 19??, the artist exhibited several of his abstract expressionist canvases, including the one presented here, from which emerges a free and gestural painting of great power. This Black Figure, created by Nonda after a half-year stay in New York, is highly representative of the artist's desire to magnify the female form through abstraction.
