SAMUEL PROUT (British, 1783–1852), “SHOREHAM QUAYSIDE”, sepia coloured monochrome watercolour, depicting breakwater and fishing boats, with chain mooring in foreground and figures standing on rocks looking out to sea; similar in composition and style to Prout's ‘Views of Lyme, Christchurch and Muddyford and to Interior of Dover Harbour’ print & Prout’s ‘Hulks off the Coast’. Inscribed to the back of the painting with location. Label verso reading ‘Park Street Gallery, Hendon, London’. Dimensions: 16cm x 25cm approx. Provenance: Sold Bonhams 4 January 2012, lot 28.
