Summary of the play: The samurai lord Yorikane fell in love with the courtesan Takao and neglected his responsibilities, causing high-ranking vassals to plot for the takeover of his domain. Returning from the pleasure quarters, he is attacked at Hanamizu Bridge, but manages to escape with the help of a servant, a sumo wrestler, named Kinugawa Tanizo.
