A pupil of the great Genoese painter Valerio Castello, from him he learned the dictates of the Genoese Baroque, although his manner was always somewhat awkward. Greater confidence was gained by the painter when he approached the great Genoese works of Rubens. The juxtaposition to the Biscaino of this unknown is referable to the intimate and collected composition of the painting to which Biscaino's poetics were closest, as opposed to the larger scenic machines of the full Genoese Baroque. Oil on canvas, dimensions ext. 113x84 int. 109x80 cm.
