The view here leads into an Italian landscape, shifting to a mountainous horizon on the left side of the image. The lighting from the right, from a low position of the sun, conveys an early romance atmosphere. This is also matched by the figures walking among the ruins. The painter suggested by Prof. Succi was active until 1743, predominantly referred to as the 'Master of the Correr Landscapes,' as depicted in this museum. Pietro Antonio Domenichini worked together with Apollonio Facchinetti, called Domenichini (active from 1740 to 1770), and his brother Iseppo (1717-after 1761). In any case, the stylistic connection with the works of Michele Marieschi (1696/1710-1743) is evident. We owe the reference to the painter to Prof. Succi, who believes that the painting is a work by the artist mentioned. Oil on canvas, dimensions ext. 87x120 int. 60.5x93.5 cm.
