Beier, Roland. Collection of 16 original drawings and watercolors and 3 collages. All works signed, some also dated. 1981-2009. Different techniques and formats. Sheet dimensions: from 16 x 14.5 cm to 47.5 x 36 cm. The collection gives a nice overview of the work of the caricaturist born in Meissen in 1955, who in 1990 with his Karl Marx illustration "Sorry guys! War halt nur so 'ne Idee von mir..." (Sorry guys! It was just an idea of mine...), he created the perfect commentary on the year of reunification and achieved international fame. - The earliest work included is a pencil drawing with a commentary on the flood disaster in Dresden in July 1981, followed by the framed collage "Elegy" from 1982, which only unfolds its full effect through the wantonly smashed frame glass. Four watercolors from 1990/91 accompanied Axel Marquard's short stories in "Kowalski" (the booklets are enclosed). Beiers purple cow on the Brandenburg Gate "Der süsse Schritt zur deutschen Einheit" (The sweet step to German unity), which adorned the International Confectionery Fair in Cologne in 1992 as a large-format painting, seems rather critical of consumption in the original version from 1990/91 presented here. An action-packed "Sculptor" dates from 1994. With his contribution to the "Gothaer Karikade 1999" Beier sends Europe-critical "greetings from Brussels" with a urinating Männeken Piss (published in Euro-Visionen, Munich, Bruckmann, 1999 - enclosed as a voucher copy). The latest works are nine gouaches with pirate motifs, created in 2009 for an entry book published by Loewe Verlag. - Addition: postcard signed by Roland Beier on verso with the artist's most famous motif. - Very good condition.
