Böttger, Klaus. Collection of 9 (2 colored) aquatint etchings on wove paper. Each signed and mostly also dated, titled and numbered or marked as proof (3) or epreuve d'artiste (2). 1975-1989. plate size: from 16 x 26 cm to 39,5 x 37,5 cm. Sheet size: from 24 x 36,5 to 63 x 53 cm.
The earliest sheets such as "Belfast" or "LAW and ORDER" testify to Böttger's involvement with the political upheavals of the 1960s/70s, while the masterful portraits of "Arthur Rimbaud" and "Edgar Ellen Poe" reflect his distinctive style: in the color etchings, the almost photorealistic figures "appear to have just pierced the surface from the depths of the plate" (Wolfgang Grätz on the retrospective "Klaus Böttger und die Frage nach der Beständigkeit der Kunst," June/August 2022, Frankfurt am Main). - Very good.
