PICASSO Pablo (1881-1973) (after) Cover for These Painters our friends, volume II. Text by Gilberte Duclaud. Cannes, editions of the Gallery 65, 1960. Lithograph in colors realized by Mourlot after L'Atelier de Cannes (1956), original lithograph having itself served as frontispiece to the work of J. Sabartés, Dans l'atelier de Picasso, Paris, Mourlot, 1957 (Bloch 974, Mourlot 279, Rau 621, Cramer 88) Proof on vellum Height 30.5 cm high, 43.5 cm wide (as seen) (Traces of oxidation perceptible, without margins (the subject possibly slightly dented under the frame)) Our print used as the cover subject of G. Duclaud's book is derived from a print of L'Atelier de Cannes that Picasso had dedicated "to Gilberte [Duclaud, author of the text] and Georges", dated "5.12.58", and reproduced in colored pencil. It is this proof that the author entrusted in 1960 to Mourlot, who made a lithographic transfer that he printed in 17 colors.
