LUBITSCH ERNST: (1892-1947) German-born American film director, an Honorary Academy Award recipient. T.L.S., Ernst Lubitsch, one page, 4to, Beverly Hills, California, 29th October 1947, to Maurice Bessy, on the printed stationery of Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation. Lubitsch apologises to his correspondent for his belated note of thanks 'for your courtesy and thoughtfulness in sending me a copy of CINEMONDE with your splendid article', adding that he enjoyed reading it very much and concluding 'It was a pleasure to have met you and I trust that you will contact me again the next time you come to California'.
