A good A.L.S., Victor Hugo, referring to Les Misérables, one page, 8vo, blue paper, Hauteville-House, Guernesey, 22nd January 1863, to Paul de St-Victor, in French. Will you allow that, on this occasion again, it is my card which thanks you and which replaces me close to you? I don't find the right words to tell you how moved I am by your magnificent page on Les Miserables, so excellent for my son, so admirable for me'') Les Misérables was first published several months before in 1862. With blank integral leaf. Accompanied by the original envelope, postmarked and stamped. Overall age wear and minor staining, with small creasing to edges. G Paul de St-Victor (1827-1881) French literary critic. Hugo refers to St-Victor´s article published by le Feuilleton de la Presse on 19th January 1863
